Nightreign Patch 1.01.2 Calms Two Very Angry Nightlords

Elden Ring Nightreign update 1.01.2 fixes Adel, Baron of Night and Libra, Equilibrious Beast, ending frame-rate freezes and endless slam loops.

The run had been going beautifully. Three nightfarers, a decent relic spread, and enough flasks to feel almost cocky as they pushed toward the boss gate. Then Adel, Baron of Night, opened his mouth. The screen hitched, stuttered, and froze — and by the time the frames returned, one of them was already being chewed on, a Wylder-shaped smear on the arena floor. It wasn't a skill issue. It was a framerate issue, and for weeks it had been quietly stealing runs from players who had done absolutely nothing wrong.

That particular nightmare is, according to Bandai Namco's patch notes, now a thing of the past. Update 1.01.2 landed on Steam with a short but meaningful list of fixes, and two of them target the game's most complained-about Nightlords. 🎉

Adel Stops Eating Your Frame Rate

The headline fix reads plainly enough: "Fixed a bug that caused the game to become unstable under some circumstances during the battle against Adel, Baron of Night." Plain wording, enormous relief. Adel — better known to the community as the Gaping Jaw — had a habit of dragging the game into a slideshow at precisely the worst possible moment, usually right before a command grab that nobody could react to because nobody could see it.

Whether the patch fully eliminates the titanic freeze-ups that players have reported across multiple fights is still being tested by the community. Early impressions are warm, but veterans know better than to declare victory after one clean run. Habit, after all, is a stubborn thing — and any change to a boss's natural rhythm throws off the muscle memory that took dozens of deaths to build.

Libra's Madness Phase Gets a Leash

The second fix is the one that produced the best footage. Libra, the Equilibrious Beast, had a spectacular bug in his madness phase: instead of cycling through his moveset, he would simply... keep slamming the ground. And keep slamming it. And keep slamming it.

One player, posting to the game's subreddit under the handle Syntex, captured Libra attempting to flatten their teammates with what they counted as over 72 consecutive attacks. Not a combo. Not a punish. Just an endless, oddly rhythmic tantrum that turned an already tense fight into a very long wait for death.

FromSoftware's fix is characteristically understated: "Fixed a bug where Libra, Creature of Night would repeatedly perform some actions." Some actions. Seventy-two of them, give or take.

The Rest of the Patch Notes

The update is not a sweeping rebalance. Most of it is quiet housekeeping — weapon behaviour, drop pools, and a few quest conditions that had been quietly breaking. Here's the full list of what changed:

🛠️ Area 🔧 What Was Fixed
Bow passives The "Add (Magic/Lightning/Holy) to Weapon" passive no longer inflates physical attack power beyond intended values when applied to a bow
Weapon skills Non-direct hits from certain weapon skills no longer inherit the weapon's attribute attack power or status ailment
Loot pools Weapons with "Projectile Damage Drop-Off Reduced" now actually appear in chests and enemy drops
Guardian's Remembrance The Demon Merchant now appears correctly during the personal objective "Find the Demon Merchant in Limveld"
Libra No more infinite ground-slamming
Adel No more instability during the fight
Wormface Players grabbed by Wormface can now be rescued while near death

That last one deserves a moment of silence. Being grabbed by Wormface was already unpleasant; being grabbed and then watching your teammates fail to revive you because the rescue prompt simply refused to work was a special kind of insult.

Version Numbers and the Road Ahead

Patch 1.01.2 is live now on Steam, with the title screen showing App Ver. 1.01.2 and Regulation Ver. 1.01.3. On PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, players will need to log in to the server to pull the latest regulation file — and if the lower-right corner of the title screen doesn't read 1.01.3, the fix is simply to select LOGIN and apply it. Online play requires the update, and the game should be restarted afterward.

FromSoftware also offered a note of honest caution alongside the good news: "Although this update includes bugfixes, we are aware that similar issues may still occur under some conditions, and we are continuing to work on resolving them." More updates are promised, which is reassuring for anyone still convinced that the giants' flame pot accuracy is a bug rather than a personal failing.

For the nightfarers who lost runs to a frozen screen or a beast who forgot how to stop swinging, though, this is the patch they were waiting for. Adel is less likely to lag them into oblivion. Libra has been talked down from his tantrum. And somewhere, a trio is walking back through that boss gate with fresh flasks and cautious hope. 🌙
