I never expected my hunt for a single Incantation to turn into a storm-soaked scramble through the Weeping Peninsula. As a Faith-focused wanderer in the Lands Between, I had heard stories about Lightning Strike—a wide-area spell that calls down a barrage of lightning bolts on anything foolish enough to stand beneath it. That sounded perfect for my dragon-hunting and group-clearing needs, so I set out from Limgrave and made my way southeast toward the peninsula. The journey itself was easy, but actually reaching the Teardrop Scarab carrying the spell? That was another story entirely.

The path led me to a crevasse separating the Minor Erdtree from the eastern side of the peninsula. Slightly north of that spot, I could see the entrance to the Morne Tunnel. At first I thought the area was just scenic—rocky shelves, dry grass, and a distant golden tree. Then the Giant Bats arrived. They swarmed the cracks in the terrain and made it nearly impossible to see the small Teardrop Scarab hiding below. Constant lightning strikes hammered the ground around me, which was both atmospheric and dangerous. On either side of the ravine I found a series of stone platforms that let me descend the cliffs safely, but every step felt like walking into an ambush. The scarab was easy to miss because I was too busy dodging fangs and glowing bolts.

Eventually I cleared enough bats to corner the Teardrop Scarab. A few heavy swings later, it dropped the Incantation. The moment I read the requirements—28 Faith and one memory slot—I felt relief. My build already leaned into Faith, and the 21 FP cost was manageable for repeated casts. I immediately equipped it and tested it on a group of enemies. Watching the bolts arc down in a wide area of effect was satisfying, but the real highlight came later when I challenged a dragon. Multiple strikes from a single cast hit the large target, turning a terrifying fight into a moment of pure lightning-spamming joy.

Since then, Lightning Strike has remained a core part of my loadout. Even after various balance updates over the years, including the famous Patch 1.04 improvements that reduced Stamina cost and recovery time while increasing casting speed, the spell still feels responsive. As of 2026, it remains one of the most reliable Faith incantations for dealing with large enemies, groups, and anything weak to lightning damage.

Buffing Its Power

To push the damage and speed even further, I started collecting Talismans. The first was the Radagon Icon, found in a treasure chest inside the Raya Lucaria Academy. This shortened casting time for all spells, making Lightning Strike come out noticeably faster. Next, I grabbed the Godfrey Icon after defeating Godefroy The Grafted in the Golden Lineage Evergaol, which empowered my charged spells and skills. Finally, the Lightning Scorpion Charm, hidden in a sealed room by an imp statue inside the Wyndham Catacombs, boosted my lightning damage outright.

Together these three items transformed an already strong incantation into a storm that could melt most foes before they even reached me. There are other ways to increase lightning damage in the Lands Between, but for most Faith builds these talismans are more than enough.

Elden Ring gives players the freedom to face challenges on their own terms, and Faith builds remain incredibly strong. My journey to find Lightning Strike taught me that sometimes the best rewards are hidden in plain sight, guarded by bats and lightning. For any Faith-focused player starting a new run in 2026, I cannot recommend this Incantation enough.
